50+ Mason Jar Crafts That Never Go Out of Style

Discover 50+ mason jar crafts for decor, lighting, gifts, storage, holidays, and more! These creative ideas are fun, easy, and seriously adorable.

Mason Jar Crafts

Do you love mason jar crafts? Because apparently I do. Deeply. Emotionally. Possibly to an unreasonable level.

Thereโ€™s just something about mason jars that makes people immediately start imagining cute decorations, cozy lighting, farmhouse kitchens, and โ€œmaybe THIS is the year I finally organize everything.โ€

Spoiler alert: it probably isnโ€™t. But at least the jars will look adorable.

The truth is that mason jar crafts never really go out of style because theyโ€™re inexpensive, versatile, and ridiculously charming.

You can turn canning jars into gifts, storage, seasonal pieces, party decorations, organizers, planters, lanterns, or even a lamp if youโ€™re feeling ambitious. (It’s easier than you think!) And somehow they always make a room feel cozier.

I also love that mason jars are basically the perfect vessels for crafting because they come in different sizes and work with nearly every style imaginable. Rustic farmhouse? Yep. Coastal? Absolutely. Vintage? Always. Colorful and whimsical? Also yes.

And letโ€™s be honest โ€” half the fun is wandering around the craft store convincing yourself you โ€œneedโ€ twine, fairy lights, faux flowers, and six new paint colors.

No judgment here.

Another reason I love mason jar crafts is because many of them make fantastic little gifts. Add homemade treats, bath ingredients, candles, or flowers and suddenly you look incredibly thoughtful and crafty with surprisingly little effort.

Youโ€™ll find all kinds of inspiration below including farmhouse projects, lanterns, organization ideas, seasonal accents, gifts, lighting projects, planters, and creative crafts for kids and adults alike. Some are practical, some are decorative, and some are just plain fun.

Either way, if youโ€™ve got a stash of glass jars sitting in cabinets waiting for their moment? This is it.

Preparing the Jars

Whether you like painting jars or are using Mod Podge, etc. you’re going to need to prepare them. Remove labels using one of our DIY sticker remover methods.

Mason jars tend to get greasy fingerprints on the outside from handling, so I recommend washing them with mild soap and water. You can also use rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball.

Painting the Jars

You can paint mason jars before decoupaging over the top. If you use any sort of paint, it should be either a spray paint (like a primer) or an acrylic paint made for glass. Get my best tips for painting on glass.
