Abbey shows you how to make this rustic style, distressed Thanksgiving sign using washi tape, chalk paint, and Mod Podge!
Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner this sign was a perfect fit for my house right now. One thing I try to do each day is abide by the thought . . . if you were to wake up tomorrow morning and only be left with the things you thanked God for the night before . . . what would you have?
So daily I remember to be thankful for all the things in my life I couldn’t live without and this sign is a constant reminder to be thankful for what we have. Are you ready for the tutorial? Keep reading.
DIY Rustic Thanksgiving Sign
The sign is very easy to make, here’s what you need:
- Wood Sign from Consumer Crafts
- Wood Grain Washi tape from Consumer Crafts
- Mod Podge
- Stencils (mine were from Hazel and Ruby Handmade)
- Light Blue Chalk Paint and Paint Brush
- Fabric and Felt for Rosette Flowers
Once the sign is wrapped, I then filled in any gaps and got my Mod Podge out in order to secure the tape down. This step is important because this particular washi tape doesn’t have a super strong hold and will lift over time without the Mod Podge.
I also created some fabric rosettes and posies with scrap felt and fabric I had on hand. I used hot glue to glue them down.
