Decorate a Notebook Cover with a Map

Hi all! This is Heidi from Hands Occupied. A favorite promo item companies like to give out are notebooks with their logos on them. I think you might know these type of products as S.W.A.G. (stuff we all get).

Sometimes the goodies are cool, but sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes they are in between, where the item itself is great but the logo? Not so much.

The thing is, you might not necessarily want to walk around rocking one brand’s logo for the months (or years) you’re filling that notebook with ideas and to do lists.

A great way to makeover a notebook is with paper – this easy craft will take your freebie from blah to looking like it was found at a boutique in 10 minutes flat! Learn how to cover a notebook below.

Carefully line up your map paper on your notebook, and smooth it into place.

Apply another layer of Mod Podge over the outside of the notebook. Don’t lay it on too thick – Mod Podge paper dries nicely, but since you’re working with paper, you don’t want it getting wrinkly.

When it’s wet, you’ll be able to see through the paper a little bit. If you’re a worried about a particularly bold logo showing through, you might want to use two sheets of Mod Podge Podgeable paper.

The packs come in with two copies of each design, so you can easily line up the maps to fully cover your notebook if you need to.

I do not understand why you had to put another layer of Mod Podge over the outside of the notebook?...

What a great makeover. Wish I would have seen this before I made a travel book for a friend. I will have to check the store next time I get out. :)
