Bring the feeling of the beach to your home with these beach-inspired crafts. There is something for everyone—from DIY coastal decorating pieces for adults to puffy painted seashells for kids!
Beach crafts are like little treasures you create using the inspiration that the ocean washes ashore. These crafts often involve using materials like sand, shells, driftwood, and other things you often won’t see anywhere but at the beach. But that doesn’t mean you have to have access to a beach to join in the fun!
Where to find supplies for beach crafts
In fact, it is still pretty easy to find beach craft supplies:
Sand: You can buy colored sand at craft stores or use regular sandbox sand.
Seashells: Lots of stores sell seashells. Or, you can see if some friends have brought back shells from their beach vacation—you can craft together!
Driftwood: Sometimes you can find driftwood pieces by a lake or river, or you can buy them online.
Sea Glass: Craft stores have sea glass, or you can make our own by tumbling glass pieces in a rock tumbler if you have one.
Seaweed: You might not use real seaweed, but you can get creative with green paper or ribbons. They’re less gross to work with anyway!
Plus, there aren’t any rules that say you have to use items from the beach to make beach crafts! You can make things inspired by the beach, crafts that have beachy colors, or create other things you may see at the beach like surfboards, beach umbrellas, or even crabs.
Another great thing about beach crafts is that it doesn’t matter if you are a toddler or an experienced crafter, anyone can participate!
There are simple activities suitable for children, such as making sand castles or paper plate beach scenes, and more complex projects like creating wall art or home decor with a coastal theme.
Remember, it isn’t about whether you can get to a beach, it is about the fun you have and the cool things you make. You don’t need to be at the beach to feel the ocean vibes. With a little creativity, you can bring the vibes right to your home with beach crafts!
