Here’s an EASY tutorial for making Instagram mini canvases using Mod Podge. Mini canvas craft ideas fun and simple – and these make great gifts.
Skills Required: Beginner. It helps to have some experience with Mod Podge just to prevent wrinkles. However, if you’re brand new to Mod Podge, just work slowly and be patient and you should be fine.
Everyone can probably admit that Instagram is highly addictive. It’s so easy to edit photos on the fly and share them with the world. Every time I browse through my feed, I get so inspired by the beautiful images!
The thing that I’ve noticed ever since Instagram became an obsession, is that I barely have any actual photos around my home. Sure, I have them on my phone, but it’s a little bit sad that I hardly ever actually print a photo out to display around my house.
I love the idea of putting my phone down but still being able to enjoy my beautiful Instagram images.
I came up with a super easy way to solve this Instagram dilemma! These mini canvases are so easy to make and can be displayed anywhere and everywhere.
My favorite way to use them is to attach a magnet on the back and stick them on the fridge. They also would make a great gift to teachers, grandparents, spouses, and friends!
Mini Canvas Craft Ideas
Here’s what you will need:
- Mini canvases
- Mod Podge – most kinds will work
- Instagram photos
- Paint brush
- Rubber bands
Before you start, print your photos out onto paper using laserjet ink. You can use uncoated photo paper, but honestly the thinner the better because you’ll be folding over edges.
Lay your down onto the back of the photo and trace around it.
Make creases along the lines. Snip the corners to make folding it around the canvas easier later.
Brush on a layer of Mod Podge onto the canvas and the back of the photo. Lay the photo on top and press firmly. Fold the sides around the edges of the canvas.
Fold the corners over and trim off any excess paper. Next, I put some rubber bands around the mini canvases to help the photo adhere to the surface.
Once it’s fully dry, take the rubber bands off. Add another layer of Mod Podge and let it fully dry.
Make a bunch or a few! These small canvases are so easy to decorate that now you have no excuse not to have photos all around your house!
Stick magnets on the backs and fill up your fridge with these mini canvases!
