If you’re looking for easy spring craft ideas, this simple doily banner is perfect. Make it for a pretty seasonal accent to your decor.
Spring is in the air! Have you started to think about easy Easter or spring craft ideas yet? I have a simple decoupage doily banner for you to try . . . perfect if you’re looking for a project that only takes a few minutes to pull together!
I recently found these large chipboard journals in the discount bins at the craft store. I loved the floral shapes and I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of packs. I wasn’t sure what to make with the shapes at first… but I knew the flower silhouettes would be cute for spring.
When I got home . . . I thought that the pre-cut holes on each board would be the perfect way to hang the chipboards on a string, like a garland. So, I got to work to decorate the shapes.
Spring Craft Ideas – Doily Banner
Gather These Supplies
- Large chipboard shapes or chipboard journals
- Paper doilies, 4” diameter
- Mod Podge Satin
- Buttons (optional)
Step one: Brush a liberal coat of Mod Podge over the center of each flower shape. Press a doily down over the glue and smooth out any bubbles. Allow to dry.
Step two: Apply another coat of decoupage over the top of each doily to seal them. Allow that coat to dry. You could glue down something decorative in the center of the doily (like a big button) but I kind of liked the look of flower without anything else.
I tied mine to the banister at the bottom of our steps. I love the mix of green and white colors with the flower shapes. It is a perfect (and easy) way to welcome a little spring into our home!
