You’ll love this collection of 20 genius crafting tips. These are the craft hacks your grandmother used – very useful for everyday life!

Genius Crafting Tips and Hacks

Crafting tips are one of my favorite things to write about. Because being a lifelong crafter, I’m always looking for shortcuts or inexpensive ways to do common things.

I don’t mind buying tools when they have a regular use and make my life easier, but sometimes I need a solution at the spur of the moment, and there’s no tool around to do the job. That’s typically how these things work, right?

There’s where these crafting tips come in.

Craft Hacks

You might have also heard them referred to as “craft hacks.” Whatever you call them, these craft tips are those little tips and hints you remember your grandmother using way back when. Grandma didn’t always have fancy tools, and neither do you. At least I don’t!

Useful Crafting Tips

These tips cover topics such as storing small items, sharpening scissors, spray painting, and more. Creative people always have a lot of tips and tricks, and I can’t wait to share these with you.

(Store Really Small Items in Ice Cube Trays) I find that daily (weekly) pill reminder cases work wonders for tiny items including beads. I prefer my tiny items in something with a lid or cap! LOL

Hi I've tried put magazine pics. On cardboard boxes. They dry wrinkled and don't look good. What am I doing wrong? I love your emails. Thank you Gabriela

Hi Gabriella! You can use small pieces okay: https://modpodgerocksblog.com/make-a-magazine-collage/ If the pieces get larger that you use, you need to wet them first. The paper is thin, and thin papers are wrinkled with acrylic products unless you wet them first like I did with this thin wrapping paper: https://modpodgerocksblog.com/floral-diy-coat-rack/

I like to glue recipes that I have clipped from magazines into a scrapbook. I used rubber cement but didn't hold after a few years. Any suggestions?

Hi Pat! You can use just a regular gluestick. The Elmer's craft bond works well: https://amzn.to/3kCXKzE

Since you aren't decoupaging, Mod Podge is overkill for this!

I cut a slit in one end of a piece of 'hook and loop' (aka Velcro) and slide it over the plug end of an appliance cord. This way it doesn't get lost and it's always there when you need to roll up it up. This is much neater and easier than the twist ties that usually come with appliances. I also use the (Velcro) in the garden to hold plants on stakes. It lasts several seasons and does no harm to the plants, whether flower or vegetable.
