Skills Required: None. Even if you’ve never crafted before, you’re going to be able to make this project. You’ll be painting Mod Podge on a vase and wrapping ribbon.
Hi all! This is Heidi from Hands Occupied. The holidays are fast approaching, and everyone’s in the market for a fun, fast and festive project to spruce up their home.
This easy little vase fits the bill – you can even fill it with some affordable carnations packed in tight. No fancy florist skills required. You gotta love this kind of quick holiday DIY!
How to Wrap a Vase with Ribbon
Supplies
- plain glass vase from Dollar Tree
- Sparkle Mod Podge
- sponge brush
- 2 kinds of ribbon
- scissors
Directions
Clean and dry your vase. Apply a generous layer of Sparkle Mod Podge all over its outside.
Cut the end of one kind of ribbon at an angle. Carefully wrap the ribbon around the vase and Mod Podge in a descending spiral. I made about 4 total “laps” around my vase with my ribbon.
When you reach the far end of the vase, cut your ribbon so it’s flush with the bottom edge.
Cover the outside of the ribbon with Mod Podge.
Cut your second ribbon at an an angle and stick it to the vase half way in between the first ribbon and the second, over the Mod Podge.
Trim the second ribbon at an angle at the far end, again making it flush with the edge.
Paint over the whole thing with one more layer of Sparkle Mod Podge. Let dry before filling with flowers.
Never fear – it dries clear and more layers = more sparkle, which is never a bad thing in my book!
