Use a vintage sheet and Mod Podge in this fabulous DIY purse refashion – it’s such an easy craft project, and very budget friendly!
I have a slight problem. I love vintage flower patterns. I can’t get enough of them . . . on plates, old handkerchiefs, botanical images… the list goes on! The old flower images are soft, classic and pretty . . . and yet simple and graphic in their own way.
I’ve incorporated these floral items into my home where I can, but I admit that I have several vintage bed sheets sitting in my fabric stash, waiting to be used in a pretty craft.
Every time spring rolls around, I often want a new, fun accessory or two to use in the warmer weather. I recently decided to use up some of my vintage fabric to create a new, floral look on a bag I already owned. I think you’re going to love this DIY purse project.
Want to see how to make it? This craft is really easy to do and can be created with any floral fabric you may have in your craft stash. Just grab an old fabric bag or clutch and some decoupage medium!
DIY Purse Refashion
Gather These Supplies
- Small fabric pencil case or clutch
- Mod Podge Fabric
- Vintage floral sheets (or any other thin, floral fabric)
Wash and dry your fabric if you haven’t already.
Using scissors, carefully cut out flower shapes from your fabric. (TIP: If your fabric does not cut cleanly without fraying, you can brush a thin coat of Mod Podge over the fabric. Allow that to dry and the fabric will cut just fine. The fabric may be a little stiffer, but you still can work with it in the next steps.)
That’s it! Now you have a fun and “new” floral bag for the spring and summer!
I can’t wait to use mine. It’ll be perfect for holding my keys, wallet and cell phone if I need to run somewhere. Plus, it will make me smile as I now get to run errands carrying some vintage, floral goodness!
