Yes, you can use canvas, wood, and a variety of other surfaces for Mod Podge wall art. If you’ve never Mod Podged before, I recommend buying a small, inexpensive canvas and doing a mini project to practice.

Formulas to Use

Using fabric on a canvas? No need to use Fabric Mod Podge. You can use any formula given that your wall art won’t be washed.

Additional tips:

  • Print photos on laserjet paper (20 – 32 lb.) or spray both sides of an inkjet printout without clear acrylic sealer
  • Use a silicone mat on your work surface so that you can turn the wall art over and smooth from the inside without the Mod Podge sticking to your surface
  • Choose acrylic craft paint to paint your canvas; let dry fully before adding any Mod Podge
