Yes, you can use canvas, wood, and a variety of other surfaces for Mod Podge wall art. If you’ve never Mod Podged before, I recommend buying a small, inexpensive canvas and doing a mini project to practice.
Formulas to Use
For Mod Podge on canvas you can use just about any formula. I recommend Gloss, Matte, or Satin depending on the finish that you want.
Using fabric on a canvas? No need to use Fabric Mod Podge. You can use any formula given that your wall art won’t be washed.
Additional tips:
Print photos on laserjet paper (20 – 32 lb.) or spray both sides of an inkjet printout without clear acrylic sealer
Use a silicone mat on your work surface so that you can turn the wall art over and smooth from the inside without the Mod Podge sticking to your surface
Choose acrylic craft paint to paint your canvas; let dry fully before adding any Mod Podge
