This washi tape frame is really easy to make with your favorite paper tape and Mod Podge! Grab $1 heart frame from the craft or dollar store to do it.

Good Valentine’s Day morning, friends! I hope you are planning on having a fun day, and that it possibly includes some sort of Valentine’s Day craft.
I recently decorated a $1 heart frame using paint, paper tape (washi tape) and Mod Podge and it didn’t take long. If you need a craft to try today, this is a fun one. Here’s how I did it.
DIY Washi Tape Frame
Gather These Supplies
- $1 frame from the craft store
- Mod Podge Super Gloss
- White acrylic paint
- Washi tape in Valentine’s patterns or colors
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Craft knife

Remove the back from your frame and paint the entire surface with white acrylic paint, including the back. Let dry.

Start in the center of your frame and place the washi tape down on the diagonal. You can do it horizontally or vertically as well – I chose to go diagonally.

Keep placing down washi tape and smoothing until the entire frame is full.

Use a craft knife to trim the edges – it was way too difficult to cut, which is why I used the craft knife. Just place down on a craft mat.

Paint a layer of Mod Podge Super Gloss over the top. It acts as a varnish and gives a very shiny, smooth finish to a project. Don’t use it to glue paper down – just as a varnish. It might show brush strokes but it will self level.

Not only was this washi tape frame made on a budget, but it was done in about 30 minutes. Easy, quick and inexpensive – now that is my kind of project!
