Any other drugstore shoppers here? Please raise your hand! I became a hard-core drugstore shopper in my 30s, because who can resist a place that always has everything you need and more? I make no bones about the fact that I have a healthy Walgreens obsession, as the local store is less than two miles from my house. My Walgreens is always busy, without fail, so I know I’m not the only one who loves it!
My favorite section is the “As Seen on TV” area of the store. If you haven’t been to it, I highly recommend it (I’m telling you, I need the Egglettes cooker and the Arctic cooler!). No matter the section, though, I buy just about everything at Walgreens. It carries my very favorite brand of toiletries, Soap & Glory. Walgreens is also the only place that has my favorite Smoothie Star lotion.
The best part of shopping at my local Walgreens is the nice people that work there. They greet me every time I walk in the door, and they always make conversation while I’m checking out. I think you can see why I’m obsessed with Walgreens, right? Shopping isn’t always fun for me, but my local Walgreens makes it a pleasure. I just learned about a resource from Walgreens which makes it even better: the Walgreens App!
One thing you might not know is that we get a lot of prescriptions around here. I take one – but Steve takes six. He went into heart failure about 3 1/2 years ago, and he also has a thyroid condition. He’s doing okay, but it’s not fun to manage, especially the medications, so anything that takes the stress off is welcomed and encouraged.
The Walgreens App is FREE and works on both iOS (Apple) and Android – you can use it on your phone, tablet, and smartwatch devices. Here are the main things you can do with it:
- Manage prescriptions
- Find care for health issues
- Print photos and buy photo gifts
- Get weekly ads and coupons
This is one of our favorite features of the app, just because we have so much going on in the prescription department! Everything is at your fingertips, including the ability to scan a prescription to refill it or enter the number in manually.
You can also set reminders and view your history at a glance, which is SO important for us. Seven medications for two people – especially when one person needs their medications to live – is obviously crucial to keep track of, and this app does it for us. It’s really nice and takes a huge weight off of our shoulders, especially Steve’s.
If you want to find help for common conditions, you never have to leave your house if you have the Walgreens App!
This is a cool feature on the Walgreens App that I didn’t know existed until just recently – you can print photos from your phone and then pick them up at your local store! Who is guilty of letting those photos sit in the camera roll (raises hand . . .)? With free Same Day Pickup, printing your favorite photos is fast and easy.
You can also order Photo Cards, invitations, books, and decor items. I think my favorite is the Framed Magnets – those would make great gifts. I love that I can do it all from my phone.
Ads & Coupons
I’m going to tell you a fun (?) little secret about myself: I am obsessed with coupons. Did it happen when I turned 40? Maybe…But I am always looking for a deal. You better believe if I can scan an item and find out if it’s on sale, I’m going to do it.
With the Walgreens App I can add paperless coupons to my Balance® Rewards account (of course I have one) with the Clip by Scan feature so that I can save when I shop. I can even scan my card from the app since I linked it up! It’s pretty amazing.
If you’re ready to take the plunge and download the Walgreens App, do it HERE.
