Use a canvas, a quote, string, and your trusty bottle of Mod Podge to create this unique DIY wall decor. Customize with any words you like!

For some reason, when I think of spring decor and crafts, all things string come to mind. I don’t know why but anything string-y seems spring-y! I came up with this super fun DIY wall decor – a unique way to create a custom quote canvas using string.
It has tons of texture and is just so unique and unexpected. The best part is that you can make it say whatever your heart desires and since you only need a few supplies, just set it out for spring and then put it away until next season.
Or, maybe you will love it so much that you will want to keep it up all year long. I have my string quote canvas hanging in my daughter’s room and it’s so cheery and fun!

Easy DIY Wall Decor
For this project, you will need:
- Thread
- Mod Podge (I used Matte)
- Canvas
- Foam Brush
- X-Acto Knife
- Vinyl Letters

First, use the vinyl letters to spell out your word or quote. As you can see, I actually used an old canvas and painted over it white. Since this project is so textured, this is a great way to use up something you no longer use because you won’t notice any previous texture showing through!

Cut up your thread into small pieces. Then, working in sections, brush on a layer of Mod Podge and sprinkle on the thread.

Keep working until the entire canvas is filled. Brush on another layer of Mod Podge to seal in the string. I allowed mine to fully dry overnight.

Using your X-Acto knife, cut carefully around each letter. Make sure it’s fully dry before attempting this step!

And you are finished with your DIY wall decor! Wasn’t that easy?

I love the way this turned out. It looks great against a colored or dark background but it’s also a subtle way to dress up a white wall.
Make a tiny one or a big one, whatever your heart desires! I love using vinyl letters for so many projects.

Or just put the string on before the letters. That way you won't need to cut all those string ends afterwards.
