This one is for the bloggers that ask me regularly about making money without being obtrusive. Have you read my advice about how to start a blog yet? If not, head over there, then come back here to take the next step by learning about affiliate programs!
Monetizing your blog doesn’t have to be done in a spammy, pushy, or sleazy way. I know some people feel like they shouldn’t put ads up, or use affiliate links, but really you do deserve to get paid for the time you’re putting in. Plus the key is suggesting products that you trust and your readers would honestly use or be interested in. If you’re ready to take that leap and start making some real money, start with affiliate programs that you can trust. I’m going to show you a few of my favorites.
Pro tip: If you have a favorite retailer and you can’t figure out how to sign up for their affiliate program, send them an email! They will usually write back rather quickly, letting you know how to sign up. You can also sign up for an account with ShareASale and search their merchant list. They have thousands, and you sign up all in one spot – making it all very simple to earn lots of cash!
My Favorite Affiliate Programs
Amazon is one of the easiest to monetize with because, well, who doesn’t love shopping on Amazon? The Amazon Affiliate Program fits with any type of blog, though the easiest way to monetize with Amazon links is when you’re fitting them naturally into posts. If you have a lifestyle blog, make a Top 10 post for your favorite pillows, rugs, and decor items. If you have a mom blog, write a post about getting prepared for back to school time!
Post Planner is one of the most highly rated apps for bloggers, entrepreneurs, and pretty much anyone involved in business and social media. It’s affordable, at $7 (or less) per month, so it’s pretty easy to get sign ups. I would recommend using this affiliate while writing about blogging, organizing, social media, and working from home. Post Planner boosts social media engagement, and saves you lots of time. Watch the video they provide to help boost engagement by up to 650%. If you haven’t yet, be sure to sign up for Post Planner yourself so you can recommend it to your readers and friends!
Tailwind is a must have Pinterest scheduling tool for bloggers, so make sure you sign up if you haven’t yet. They pay $15 per sign up, and there are so many ways you can monetize using Tailwind. For example, write a post about how to increase blog traffic, or how to improve your Pinterest engagement. The key here is offering helpful content, while weaving in the affiliate links.
Woven Pear offers a monthly sock subscription, with the most adorable socks ever. It doesn’t take much to get women to shop with Woven Pear. Sign up through ShareASale.
Blitsy has some of the most fun and bright craft supplies! From scrapbooking to needlecrafting, they’ve got it all. They’re affordable, too, which is a plus. Sign up for Blitsy’s affiliate program through ShareASale.
PicMonkey is one of my favorite photo editing programs to use ( I use it daily), so it’s a total bonus that they have an affiliate program! The easiest way to make money with PicMonkey is to talk about it, which is fun to do. Create a few PicMonkey tutorials, post about your favorite blog tools, or simply make a Top 5 list for your blog. Sign up through ShareASale for this one, too.
