Learn how to decorate a glass tray with glitter and Mod Podge! This is a perfect way to add pizzazz to a dollar store find.
You see them everywhere, don’t you? The clear glass tray. And you always pick it up and think “what could I do with this?
Well, trust me – I do the same thing. They are at the dollar store, the craft store, IKEA . . . I’ve even bought them from time to time and let them sit.
Well, I’m pleased to announce that I have found a fun and quick way for you to decorate them – Mod Podge Rocks stencils!
This is my new product line that you can find in Michaels stores, and these stencils make it VERY easy to get detailed designs with Mod Podge and glitter. Here’s how I decorated this tray.
Decorate a Glass Tray
Gather These Supplies
- Clear glass dish
- Mod Podge Rocks Peel ‘n Stick Stencil – Tangier
- Mod Podge Gloss
- Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
- Mod Podge spouncers
- Glitter in the color of your choice
- Stencil or painter’s tape
You can decorate several trays with these supplies above! Imagine making them for all of your neighbors – just sayin.’ Before you begin, clean and dry your glass surface with mild soap and let dry.
Carefully peel the stencil from the backer and place inside of the glass dish, making sure that you have an even border around all sides. Use stencil or painter’s tape to tape off the border so that you don’t get Mod Podge in those areas.
Sprinkle glitter on top of the Mod Podge. Dump the glitter off onto a piece of paper or a glitter tray (pour the remaining glitter back into the jar). Then let the Mod Podge dry completely. Wash the stencil and return it to the backer.
Use the paintbrush or a similar tool to remove the excess glitter from the surface – just brush it away.
See how easy it was to decorate a tray? You can put so many things in it! Keys, change, earrings . . . use it for organizing or just for decoration. I love.
