There has been a lot to celebrate in my life lately, especially with my friends and loved ones. For example, my brother and his wife recently had a baby, so we have a new little one in the family.
One of my best friends got married in a beautiful ceremony, and another got a new job that they’ve been wanting for a long time. There are so many positive moments to acknowledge these days!
With the Rio 2016 Olympics right around the corner (starting August 5th), it’s a good time to think about “gold medal moments” in your life.
Athletes in the Olympic Games receive a gold medal on the podium for all of their hard work, but real life has winning moments too: those times that you want to celebrate the positive things that happen, even if they are small.
Coca-Cola has been a proud sponsor of the Olympic Movement for more than 80 years and this year for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is celebrating by shining light on those special “gold medal” moments that go beyond the podium . . . happy and humorous events we achieve everyday!
Speaking of gold medal moments, I have my own reason to celebrate as well – I can FINALLY go back to the gym after surgery in October! I had foot surgery because of an injury I sustained four years ago, and the road to recovery has been long and arduous.
Pulling my gym membership card out of my wallet for the first time in a long time was definitely a gold medal moment for me . . . I’ve been waiting to do it for so long! Here’s to healing and being healthy for the rest of 2016 and beyond!
To celebrate gold medal moments in my life and the lives of my friends, family, and neighbors, I pulled together a fun little gift idea that is so easy, even a kid can do it!
You’re going to make edible gold medal cookies to give to neighbors with a can of ice-cold Coca-Cola to wash it down.
You can gift these fun cookies to anyone that has a winning moment or small victory in their life. It will brighten their day and put a smile on their face! Here’s how to do it.
Gold Metal Oreo Cookies
All you’ll need for the cookies are:
- Any vanilla sandwich cookie
- Edible fruit strips
- Gold food mist
- Cookie icing in a squeeze bottle
- Kitchen scissors
- Cellophane bags with ties
- White star stickers
- Cover your work surface and lay your cookies down flat.
- Spray with gold mist; let dry, flip and repeat.
- Cut one edible fruit strip in half. Fold to look like a medal ribbon, then glue to the back with cookie icing.
- Let dry for several hours, then place in a cellophane bag with a tie. Place a white star on the front. Write a message if you like!
Are these not the cutest little gold medal gifts you’ve ever seen?? And they are entirely edible! Gift with a can of Coca-Cola to wash down the tasty cookie. I can’t wait to surprise the next person in my life who has a gold medal moment!
