We're going to reminisce a bit my friends – and go back to that time so very long ago that we may have put in the back of our minds . . . starting college. I don't know about you, but it wasn't a very easy time for me. I found that moving out of my parents' house was hard, as was moving into my own apartment (I only stayed in the dorm for a week and didn't love it). I didn't really know what I was doing . . . I guess none of us do.
I actually have a really good friend with a daughter going off to college for the first time (how am I that old?!). It got me to thinking back, and thinking about what issues I had when I first started school. There were two issues that took awhile for me to figure out in particular. These may seem silly to some, but to me, they were a big deal:
- where to get inexpensive wall art
- which razors to use
Let's address #1 first. I've always been a huge fan of pretty wall art, and when I first moved out, I realized how EXPENSIVE it was. I mean – all of the prints I liked were a fortune if you didn't want a cheap-y poster! People weren't designing fancy images back then like they are now, so I basically just went with the cheap-y posters and the even worse poster frames.
I didn't want my friend's daughter to have to do that. And in fact, my friend asked for my help in making some art for her dorm room, so I used Canva to design some fun posters for her! She loves quotes, so I went kind of crazy and designed three images she might like – and I'm sharing them with you today. You can download the PDF files onto a jump drive and take them to FedEx-Kinkos to have them print out (you pick the size). Here are your options:

What's funny is that I'm also going to print these for myself and put them in my studio, I love them so much!
So now let's address the second issue – which razor to use. This is HUGE for me . . . I get really BAD razor burn and my parents never bought razors that really worked (plus I didn't have to shave much when I was under 18). So there was much frustration in discovering what would work for me . . . but I have a brand that I've been using for years now, and I want to recommend it to you: Schick®!
As a little present to my friend's daughter – and an introduction to womanhood – I purchased my favorite Schick® Quattro® razors. These bad boys are perfect for sensitive skin – and have 4 titanium-coated blades for a close shave.
I went to Kroger to get them, threw them in the basket, and bought them at my favorite U-Scan (am I the only one who loves to scan my own groceries? I can wait to impart my razor wisdom to this new college student.
She's definitely going to thank me!
And now I have a question for you – what are some things you wish you knew when you started college? I can't wait to hear!
