Learn how to make your own holiday clings using the Crayola Cling Creator. Children will love this fun device, and it’s SO easy!
I’m much more into children’s toys now that I have a niece. My niece is three-years-old and she’s really crafty . . . which is great, because that’s kind of a requirement to be in our family. Even her father is creative.
He’s an engineer now, but “back in the day” we used to make all kinds of things together – rug hooking was his favorite! Now that we’re older, we both still love to get involved with kids crafts.
My brother in particular loves an easy kids craft that he can do with Maria; meaning, they can participate together and BOTH have a great time. The Crayola Cling Creator is that very product!
We recently got a chance to try out the Crayola Cling Creator and let me tell you – it is awesome! To give you an overview of what it does, the Cling Creator allows kids to create repositionable shapes and icons that will stick to (and peel off of) windows, mirrors, and other flat/smooth surfaces. These clings can be made in minutes.
Let me show you how the Cling Creator works and how we met a set of cute holiday clings!
Crayola Cling Creator
Once you open the box, you assemble a little setup that consists of a tray, molds, tubes, clay, and other items you need to create your clings.
You have two options for cling creation – you can use the 20 molds that come with the set . . . or you can use the Crayola Modeling Clay to create your own custom shapes! We did both.
For our first holiday cling, we decided to use a pre-made shape (the star) and red as our color. It’s a very simple process. You simply add gel into one of the tubes up to the line, then add your color. If you want to (and we did since our clings were holiday themed) you can add other items like glitter, sequins, and more. We tossed in some gold glitter to see what would happen.
The next step is to put the tube into the handy-dandy mixer. Crayola developed a fun way for kids to easy be able to mix the cling solution, and that’s by tapping the green button as the tube shakes inside of the orange housing!
Pull out the solution and pour into the mold. In 20 minutes you’ll have an awesome cling that easily peels out of the mold. And LOOK how glittery our star is!
Now, what if you don’t want to use any of the ready-made molds? Crayola has you covered.
Simply roll out the Crayola Modeling Clay and use whatever items you like to create a shape. We used a wood shape and a lid to make an ornament.
There’s also a drawing tool if you want to get creative in your clay – you can create everything from candy canes to menorahs to snowflakes and beyond!
For this ornament cling, we decided to experiment with some color mixing. The Crayola Cling Creator comes with primary colors so it’s fun for kids to explore color mixing and let their imaginations run wild!
What else can you add to your clings? Well – we added rhinestones! So fun!
I’m so thrilled with the Crayola Cling Creator and our finished clings. We put them on the window and after a few days, tried to peel them off – they came off easily with no residue!
I still think my favorite is the glitter. It really sparkles in the light!
If you are looking for a fun gift for your littles, the Crayola Cling Creator is AWESOME! They’ll have hours of fun, that I promise you.
But don’t just take my word for it – this toy is a 2015 AWARD WINNER: Good Housekeeping, Best Toy Award; Dr. Toy, 100 Best Children’s Products; Tillywig, Best Creative Fun Award; Mom’s Choice, Gold Award; National Parenting Publications, NAPPA Silver Award.
