Create a DIY skull bracelet and necklace using Mod Podge acrylic shapes, scrapbook embellishments and book pages. This skull jewelry is so fun to wear on Halloween.
If you love skeletons, welcome to the club. One of my favorite things about Halloween is the skeleton crafts. Skulls can be fun or spooky, and they are so easily incorporated into Halloween decorating and costumes. And as you can see, they are also easily incorporated into this skull jewelry.
What got me thinking about doing a DIY skull bracelet and necklace was actually a set of scrapbook embellishments that you can see I used in the project (the skeleton head stickers). The rest just came together with things I already had. To learn how I made it, read on.
Make Skull Jewelry
Gather These Supplies
- Mod Podge Podgeables shapes – Basic (five small ovals) and Designer (crown shape)
- Mod Podge Tracing Templates – Basic Shapes
- Mod Podge Gloss
- Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
- Mod Podge Jewelry Glue
- Book pages
- Embellishments including skull head stickers, skull key and small cog wheels
- Martha Stewart acrylic paint – Beetle Black, Arrowhead
- Stencil brush
- Jewelry findings – Necklace chain, bracelet, jump rings
- Jewelry tools
- Drill and 1/16” bit
- Pin (optional)
Choose the Podgeables shapes that you would like to use in your project.
If you choose shapes with no pre-drilled holes at the top, drill a small hole at the top of each Podgeable shape. I used a screw to mark where I wanted my hole (to get it started) and then I went from there.
Mod Podge the book page shapes to the Podgeable shapes. Use a medium layer of Mod Podge and smooth out, then let that dry.
Use Dimensional Magic on the top of each Podgeable shape and let dry. You don't have to do this, but I like the nice, shiny, epoxy finish it gives.
Attach jump rings to the Podgeable shapes and then attach them to the bracelet and necklace chains. Use the pin to push through the holes if any glue dried in there.
Wear your spooky skull jewelry with pride. You are proudly representing all of your skulligan friends this Halloween!
