How ironic – a DIY keychain made from a key! But this looks so cool, and it’s made with Mod Podge and scrapbook paper. Only takes a few minutes to make, which makes it a perfect last-minute gift idea.
This time I’m using one of the key shapes, which I love. This project is keys on keys on keys! If you’re ever looking for a quick and fun DIY gift, this unique DIY keychain idea is a great one.
You can whip it up in 15 minutes (plus a little dry time), and it can fill handmade present needs ranging from gift topper to stocking stuffer.
DIY Keychain in Minutes
- Mod Podge Gloss
- Scrapbook paper of your choice
- Mod Podge Podgeable Shapes Designer Shapes – if you can’t find these,
- Sponge brush
- Keychain loop – choose your favorite
Trace your acrylic key shape onto your scrapbook paper and cut it out.
Paint a thick layer of Mod Podge Gloss onto your shape, being careful to make sure it’s facing the right way.
Since the papers I used only have a design on one side, make sure you paint your Mod Podge on the correct side – otherwise the paper’s design or the key’s teeth might be facing the wrong way when you go to stick the paper to the acrylic shape.
Paint a final layer of Mod Podge over the outside of the paper and let dry. Attach your keychain and (real) keys, and you’re good to go! Didn’t I say this was a totally easy DIY gift idea? 😉
