Hey there, fashionistas and crafty souls! It’s Holly from Club Crafted, bringing you a glitzy solution to breathe new life into your beloved but worn-out footwear.

As a seasoned DIYer, I have a confession: I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my wardrobe. Those old clothes and shoes?

They’re not just fabric and leather; they’re memories, right? And who knows, maybe they’ll come back in style or fit perfectly… someday.

Take, for instance, my beloved pair of blue flats. They’ve seen better days (or years), with toes that have partied a bit too hard and lost their shape and color.

But instead of bidding them a tearful goodbye, I decided it was time for a Cinderella moment – a dazzling transformation with Mod Podge and glitter!

Glittered flats with a bottle of Mod Podge

Introducing my Mod Podge glitter shoes, the DIY project that turned my not-so-glam flats into the belle of the ball.

The pointed toes of these flats were just begging for some love, and what says love better than glittery hearts? In just 15 minutes – yes, you read that right, 15 minutes – these shoes went from drab to fab.

Whether your shoes are faux suede like mine or another fabric type, this decoupage magic trick works wonders.

It’s a fun and easy craft, perfect for adults, teens, and tweens alike, especially if you’re looking to add a personal touch to your wardrobe without spending a fortune.

So, grab your Mod Podge, choose your glitter, and get ready to give your old shoes a heart-stopping makeover.

Let’s turn those worn-out flats into a fashion statement that’s sure to turn heads and spark conversations.

Tips and Thoughts for This Project

A combination of silver and turquoise was used in this project.

If you’re going to glitter on light or white shoes, I’d use fabric (or suede, or leather) paint in the same color as the glitter to outline the shape first. Otherwise the background shows through between glitter particles. You can see that in my DIY glitter shoes project.

Even though sealing the glitter with Mod Podge makes the pattern last, some glitter may fall off over time. Reapply glitter as needed to fill in any gaps.
