Happy early Easter! This is Heidi – I don't usually get to do share many DIY ideas for kids on my blog Hands Occupied, so I'm excited to be able to share an easy and fun Easter game craft with you all today! If you're looking for a healthy and educational alternative to candy-filled eggs this year, this egg hunt Easter game word search is for you. You simply hide these easily DIY'd eggs and as the kiddos find them, they have to spell out the secret message. I think it would be fun to have a big reward for when the word puzzle is solved too.
Easy Egg Hunt Easter Game
- plastic eggs
- egg carton (optional)
- antique matte mod podge
- paint brush
- this template
- computer printer
- basket & Easter grass (optional)
Start by printing out this template and carefully tearing or cutting out each letter of the message.
Make sure your eggs are clean and dry, then apply each letter to an individual egg one at a time. First, you'll paint a layer of Antique Matte Mod Podge on the egg.
Next, you'll place your letter and paint a second layer of Podge over the top.
Since you're Podging onto a curved surface and your letters will be flat, use the side of your brush to press down any wrinkles as they form.
Also since the eggs have curved surfaces, I recommend using an egg carton (as shown below) to let your letters dry without sticking to each other or to your table.
When your letters have dried completely, all you need to do is get your game ready to play! This is so easy to make, and the finished game is a fun, educational idea for Easter!
