I recently got a new puppy for my 40th birthday! I named him Otto. And I have a confession – I totally forgot what it was like to have a puppy. What it was like to crate train . . . to take a dog out every hour . . . and to wake up in the middle of the night! Am I too old for this? The joy of pets always outweighs the difficulties raising them, at least that's true for us.
Because who can resist this face, especially after it's eaten everything off the floor of the studio, no matter what it is? Speaking of eating, what my pets eat is VERY important to me (I mean for their daily meals, not off the studio floor). In fact we've been dealing with that for our other dog Yoshi, who is picky about what she eats. Our little five year old mixed breed is not one of those dogs that will eat anything (unlike pugs), so it's been a challenge to find a food that they both can eat. But we've finally found it in Tender & True Pet Nutrition!
We've started Yoshi on the Tender & True Whitefish & Potato Recipe . . . and she is loving it! Tender & True is the only company that makes a full line of USDA certified organic dog food that is antibiotic free and sustainable. I like superfoods, and that's what this line is . . . the “superfood” for pets!
It's very important that Yoshi eat grain free food. The grain really upsets her stomach, and she'll start licking grass. Once we put her on this food – the grass licking stopped! She's had more energy and has generally been a happier dog. And what we also love about Tender & True is that it's a balanced formula for all ages of a pet. Therefore we can feed it to Otto as well! I'm not a big fan of having two separate foods for both dogs – I love that they both can eat this food and they both love it.
In addition to the Ocean Whitefish & Potato Recipe, they also have Organic Chicken & Liver, Organic Turkey & Liver, Chicken & Brown Rice, and Turkey & Brown Rice. They have canned dog food as well. I love that all Tender & True formulas are certified USDA Organic! This certification actually has the same requirements and standards as USDA Organic food intended for humans. This means that it has been grown or processed WITHOUT the following:
- Toxic and persistent pesticides
- Artificial flavors, colors and preservatives
- Synthetic growth hormones
All animal proteins in Tender & True are certified by the Global Animal Partnership (GAP) and were humanely raised in a reduced-stress environment without added hormones or antibiotics.
