It's no denying that the planner community is growing rapidly – and that there's a ton of things you can make for it – you've got accessories like stickers, clips, bands, tassels and everything you can use to adorn your planner. I'm quickly being converted into a planner geek, and I thought I'd share an easy tutorial on how I made my own cute planner clips using mod melts. Best part is you can make different ones easily! Give them as stocking stuffers this Christmas to planner friends or keep them for yourself!
Step 1. First off, you want to get your paper clips and gently tug the middle part up. Spray paint one side of the paper clip and wait to dry. Once dry, flip them over and spray the other side. Once all sprayed and dry, gently push back the middle part. And there you've made some low-cost gold paper clips! I just had to make these since I couldn't find any gold paper clips in my area but you can definitely skip this step if you have gold paper clips laying around.
Step 3. Fill your mold with the chosen glue stick color of choice. If it's too big and you're having a difficult time filling it, keep the glue hot by maintaining the temperature with a heat gun while your glue gun is heating up additional glue. I find it specially helpful with big molds such as the one pictured below. I ultimately changed my mind and used the teardrop mold to match the bows I was making.
Step 5. Clean up your molded bits with a box cutter, small scissors or a craft knife. Clean up the ragged edges by carefully heating up the edges to melt and be seamless with the rest of the bit.
