It wasn't until last year that I got into football. My boyfriend played in college . . . and then one of my best friends is dating someone that also played in college. I never understood how to play the game, which was my main hurdle – so I made them sit down and teach me how it's played. Since that time, I've been hooked! I also love how football brings friends and families together. There's nothing like eating together and rooting for the same team, right? So this year my friend Maya and I are hosting a Home Bowl party at my place featuring Coca-Cola and Ritz Crackers – and I'm so excited! I wanted to share a preview of the party with you, as well as both a special recipe and craft I made for the big day. Not only that, but I'm hosting a special Pinterest contest that I think you are going to be interested in. Keep going to learn how to host your own Home Bowl party, and get the contest information!
I created a special recipe this year that I'm thrilled to share with you – this one is one you'll want to bookmark. I made these football themed Ritz Cracker cookie sandwiches . . . I call them “sweet and salty football cookies.” Are they not the cutest things ever?? To make these, you'll need a few ingredients:
- Ritz Crackers – two per sandwich
- Brown candy melts (mine came in a microwaveable container)
- Cookie filling
- White icing in a squeezable tube
- Tweezers for food
- Cookie sheet and wax paper
The recipe is simple. All you do is spread the filling between two Ritz Crackers. Repeat for as many cookies as you'd like. Follow the instructions on your candy melt tub and get them ready for dipping. Add your cookie to the tub with the tweezers, cover it, then pull out quickly (tapping on the side to remove excess). Place on wax paper (put on top of a cookie sheet) to dry. Once dry, make the football laces with the icing!
But that isn't even close to all . . . I want to share with you some additional party details!
I also went all-out on utensil containers using the Coca-Cola bottle holders. These can actually be used to hold anything on your table (including condiment bottles, salt and pepper shakers, etc). Here's how I made these babies:
To make these, simply spray paint your Coca-Cola containers and let dry. Trim paper to fit both sides of your containers – add Mod Podge to the top and use your hands (the brayer is optional) to smooth down the paper. Let dry for 15 minutes. Glue ribbon across the bottom and trim.
Once done, I wrapped utensils in napkins and secured with washi tape. Then I placed in the container for guests to grab. Super easy!
My Home Bowl party was so easy to set up – and I LOVE the way it turned out.
