This post brought to you by Summer of Groupon. All opinions are 100% mine.
When was the last time you took a vacation? Or even just a little time off to do something for yourself? I know, me neither. I work way too hard and between family responsibilities and other things going on, I just don't play enough. But things are about to change my friends. I dub the month of July the "Summer of Groupon." I'm finally going to cut back on the work and increase the fun – and enjoy everything that my lovely city (Atlanta) has to offer. And as you can probably guess, I'm doing it through Groupon.
I've been a Groupon addict for a long time. If you aren't sure what it is, they offer unbelievable deals for just about anything in your local area – experiences, food, goods . . . . even fashion and home furnishings. Of all of the things that Groupon offers, I'm all about trying anything new here in Atlanta. I love to try places to eat, and experiences like ziplining, cooking lessons, pottery classes . . . and I'll try anything once (especially at a great price). I have the app on my phone and I also get the emails. I get all jazzed to see what's new!
Groupon actually just opened a special Summer Shop, and these are their hottest deals ever. And they've invited me to participate in a special contest with other bloggers to see who has the best summer of all time using Groupons. AND I think I can do it, don't you?
Actually, I just had my first Groupon experience a few days ago. I got to try glassblowing – at a local studio called Janke Studios! And can I say this was the coolest thing ever?
The studio was absolutely beautiful – it was started by a guy named Matt almost 20 years ago here in Atlanta.
And he forged all of this amazing glassblowing equipment himself!
Equipment that makes beautiful things, just like these cheerful glasses.
Our instructor was Kate, and she showed us the furnace that I nicknamed "the dragon's mouth." I think 2,000 degrees warrants a cool nickname.
And of course, she showed us how to actually blow glass – which you do through a rod. This is Kate blowing an ornament – which was the project we made.
And here's a picture of me becoming a master glass blower! Okay . . . I might need a few more lessons.
This is my friend Maya and I sweating after the course. It will take us awhile to get our finish projects as they are finishing in the kiln. I can't wait to show you!
So you definitely need to check out Groupon's Summer Shop and get busy. I mean, you can't be bored with activities like these:
And what about these other things I'd like to try?
Groupon has all of the deals in my local city right now, and I'd love for you to follow me along for the next four weeks as I try these and WAY more. Tomorrow I'm starting with glassblowing and I can't wait to share it with you. It's time to take off of work . . . because you work hard . . . and enjoy yourself! Bring your family too.
If you are with me, visit Groupon for the latest deals in your city. You are certain to find something absolutely amazing. Learn more about the Summer of Groupon and keep up with what all of the bloggers are doing here. I'll be reporting back soon!
