Upcoming studio revamp – and a great giveaway!

Please don't judge usI am very scared and very excited to do this post – both at the same time. Why? Because I’m about to show you the inside of my space, and it’s embarrassing. *Deep breath* here goes!

Before I share some pictures, I’d like to explain. I live in a ONE room loft – meaning, there are no rooms . . . it’s just one big rectangle in the city. Don’t get me wrong, I love living here (um, I love the concrete floors especially), but it doesn’t work for me anymore. The main issue? THERE IS NO STORAGE. I work from home, and so my “studio” is right near my kitchen. Then my living room is near my kitchen and studio . . . and then my bedroom is facing all of it. So working from home is great, but running a crafty freelance business? Not as great.

So I’m moving. I’m moving to a different place to live, and separating my business into a separate studio space. But, I still have a lot of sorting and organizing to do. This is what I’m talking about:

IMG_3692Check out my boxes of supplies, paperwork, and other craft items. My sewing machine is under there too, along with a folding chair and some other crap. This area needs some major sorting and stacking onto shelves.

IMG_3693Here’s another view of the drying rack that I can’t even access – behind boxes of winter clothing that I have nowhere to store (that dresser is full of fabric and yarn).

IMG_3694Here’s the dresser. I keep clothing in here, but I also use it as a dumping ground for finished projects and brand new purchases that I have to do something with in the next few weeks. Talk about a horrible staging area.

IMG_3695And then finally, my closet. The ONE closet I have with ONE shelf. I think even Roxie is embarrassed for me.

So there are other pictures that show areas of my apartment that don’t look like a Hoarders episode, but these are the areas that I’m going to organize once I move. And how am I going to do this?

With supplies from Home Depot! I have budgeted about $1,000 for storage and shelving units from my favorite home improvement store (and if I can come in at under budget, woot). I’m so excited to get started, but first I have to get everything boxed up and to its destination (which happens next week). Then I’m going to do some shopping and some update posts. You are going to be so proud of me when this is over!

    Roxie is flippin’ cute!

I have appointed my husband to our next organization project, which is our garage. Currently, it is a pit of despair, and most of the crap is his, which is why this is his task. Good lord, we need shelving.

Oh wow, that is actually a reminder of my room one month ago until my mother forced me to clean up. Will you be showing us pictures of your new living space + neatly arranged studio :D?

I commend you for being brave enough to show us your space as it is now! Cannot WAIT to see your new space! Maybe now I will be brave enough to show you mine!

Oh my your closet area looks like my entire playroom area. I try to blame it on the kids but most of the mess is from my crafting supplies. lol I would love to get all of that sorted before school gets out. :) Good luck on your orgaization!

I could sure use some Home Depot gift card love!! ;-) All the best to you, Amy, on moving & organizing. I look at cute Roxie in that pic, & I’m reminded of Ralphie from A Christmas Story, when he went to help his dad change the tire: “Mom said I should help.” Anyhoo, thanks for the giveaway! God bless!

I have shown a few of my spaces that I never thought would be out there. I could still use a little, well, honestly, a lot of organizing in my pantry and closets.
