My dream of winter sports.

photoLittle known fact about me – I love winter sports! I really love cold weather, and interestingly enough, it makes me want to be more active than hot weather does. You might think I’m crazy, but I’m from the northwest, so I’m used to playing in the mountains. I miss it living here in Atlanta (though we recently had some snow as you can see above). I started learning to ski before I moved here from Seattle, and I used to go snowshoeing all the time. In fact, I still have my snowshoes (my dad thinks I’m crazy!).

It’s a dream of mine to be good at the biathlon. Are you laughing yet? If you haven’t heard of it, in biathlon you cross-country ski and then also shoot a rifle at targets. This sport actually originated as an exercise for Norwegian soldiers, so it’s in my roots (I’m Norwegian). I can’t imagine how strong and fit I would be! One day I’m moving back to the west coast and heading to the mountains to learn a new sport!

As with any sport, when I try the biathlon it will be important to warm up beforehand – and that includes a good breakfast each morning! Kellogg’s has some great tips about warming up and delicious cereals you can have for breakfast above. See more of the tips from Kellogg’s here:

Cute pooch Amy! We know a similar canine character who loves nothing more than bounding around in snow double his height with ears flapping wildly. He has to sit at home though while we get our own frosty fix on the slopes. I’m also loving snowshoeing and about to buy my first pair but think I’ll trade the shooting range for the cafe and a big mug of hot chocolate spiked with something to double the warming effect…

Love the blog btw and planning to try lots of the lovely projects on here. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Haha! Thank you Helen! Yoshi also loves to bound through the snow – it’s hilarious. I also have snowshoes actually . . . maybe those first and then the shooting range? ;D
