I am one of those people that have lived away from friends and family my whole life. I’ve lived in several states: Washington, Connecticut, Kentucky, California and now Georgia. I’ve gone to school in different states, had jobs in different states . . . it has made for an interesting life for sure. I’ve also developed a lot of relationships all over the place, and so keeping in touch isn’t always easy.
My mom and I are very close and she’s been my partner in crafting for a long time. Now she lives in the Seattle area – where we are from – so crafting together doesn’t happen very often (as you can imagine). You might find this funny, but the way we bridge the gap is to craft together online using Skype. We break out our supplies, sit our computers on a table and craft and talk as though we were sitting right there. Is that hilarious? It works and makes me feel closer to my mom for sure.
Aren’t sure what Skype is or never used it before? Take a peek at this video below for Linday’s story. I totally understand the feeling of wanting to remain connected to family that is far away – including friends that you’ve made that feel like family . . . even if they aren’t related to you.
Who are the friends and family that you miss connecting with on a regular basis?
