Spice Up Your Photos book review and giveaway.

Spice Up Your Photos

Are you into photography? Me too. I love taking photos – but probably even more, I love turning photos into beautiful crafts and art. The only problem is that I have no idea how to do it. At least until now! My friend Nitsa blogs at More than Photography and is undoubtedly an expert on beautiful photography and how to make art from it. She has recently written an e-book called Spice Up Your Photos: Creative and experimental photography techniques to put a spark in your photos. If you are interested in dabbling in beautiful photography crafts or mixed media, this book is for you. Do you remember this project?

Mod Podge mixed media

I featured Nitsa with this mixed media collage with photographs – and Mod Podge! Think you aren’t capable of making something like this? You are! Spice Up Your Photos will show you how it’s done.

Spice Up Your Photos includes 103 pages of ideas, inspiration and actual practices for creative and experimental photography:

  • Inkjet and image transfers
  • Texture layering
  • Mixed media photography
  • Alternative photography
  • Hand coloring photos
  • and much more!

My favorite part of the book is, of course, image transfers. They just look so cool and you can use them in so many projects!

I also REALLY love the handcoloring of images technique section, which you can do with paints or watercolor (Nitsa will show you how):

Screen Shot 2013-02-03 at 7.02.27 PMI could go on and on, but I encourage you to go here and download some sample pages of the book to see for yourself. This is the coolest photography technique book I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to get started with it!

Nitsa is so nice that she’s offering three of you a download of her book! All you have to do is enter below:

Our family takes loads of pictures, but we don’t do much with them. I’d love to have some creative ways to use the pictures on our blogs, in our home, and as gifts. This book may just be the nudge we need!

WHAT FUN THIS BOOK WOULD BE. I USED TO HAND COLOR PRINT PHOTOS MANY, MANY YEARS AGO. I HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW I REALLY LIKED TO DO THAT.

I’ve been watching your stuff for a couple of years now. I appreciate that your work is ‘darkroom’ based. Having no such facility I’d love to learn how to digitally replicate the wonderful work you do. Will your book teach me how?

I’m a designer & photographer and have always been interested in all sorts of experimental photographic techniques but courses and workshops are waaay too expensive – this book looks like a great alternative!

Nitza’s ideas are really creative and she’s good at presenting them in a way that encourages you to take them in your own direction. A couple years ago I was looking for new ways to present my photography and a how-to on laserjet transfers by Nitsa caught my attention and inspired me. My work has never been the same since!

  14. Krista says

I love having a camera on hand to take landscape and environmental photos, and I have enough knowledge to spice them up a little in Photoshop, but having this book would be a great help to expand on that knowledge!

  15. Christine Hickey says

I love mixed media and I love photography – what better way to make art by marrying the two together! I would *love* to win a copy of this book.

  16. Janice says

I’m a big fan of Nitsa’s and read her blog all the time. I am planning to buy her books, but winning this one would give me a headstart!
