Anyone else been sick lately?

Has anyone else been sick lately? OMG – I have been so sick. I have had the worst, stinkiest cold ever. I haven’t even been able to go to yoga, which I’ve been addicted to recently . . . I haven’t been able to do anything but sit in my bed. At least I’m catching up on my reality tv, right? I’m kind of loving The Bachelor and Vanderpump Rules – no judgements, please.

So I have a few favorite remedies for beating colds that I wanted to share. I’m wondering if any of you have the same tips.

1. Dog snuggles. I don’t know if you have a dog, but you should get one for when you are sick. Kidding! My dog Roxie is such a sweet girl, and she is especially sensitive when I’m sick. She usually just cares about eating, but when I’m not feeling well she cares about me, which is nice. Ha!

2. Cinnamon tea. O. M. G. My neighbor Kim gave me the most delicious cinnamon and orange tea, and I love this stuff. I’m drinking it by the loads, and it’s especially awesome. I’m drinking a ton of it. Warm drinks really help.

3. Water. Speaking of beverages, it’s easy to get dehydrated when you are sick, at least for me. So I’ve been trying to drink a ton of water.

4. Humidifier. There must be something about moisture and getting sick! The humidifier keeps my nasal passages clear and keeps me from choking all night. I’ve been coughing like crazy, so I bought a humidifier and it’s really helping.

5. Kleenex. Not just any tissue – I need Kleenex. And I need the kind with lotion in it, because my nose gets really chapped. This is also kind of gross but my nose gets particularly runny when I’m sick (especially with what I have now) so I always need a few boxes of Kleenex around.

So these are my top five things that I use when I feel sick. What are your sick day solutions?

  1. Everybody I know. Treat your symptoms. Stay hydrated and away from other people. Good luck. Get plenty of rest. Don’t forget to eat.

  2. Dog snuggles are the best! I hope you start feeling better soon!

  3. I was so sick last weekend and by Tuesday I thought I was done. Got oodles of rest and TLC from my 10y.o. son. Nothing beats breakfast in bed from a kid who wants to take care of momma. Then yesterday the coughing started up again and today my son woke up with a 101.5 temp. We both have that cough that smashes your brain against your skull and makes you think that death may not be a bad option. Hopefully we will all be feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

  4. Yes, we (meaning me and the boys, the husband didn’t get it, largely because he completely avoids us when we’re sick–which is a real drag for us) had a 2-week cold. A horrible sinus headache, low-grade fever, sneezing, never-ending cold. It took 9 days to feel better, but 3 weeks later the 7th grader still has a bit of a cough.

The house is a mess, we are still low on some groceries (I cut back on trips to the store, I felt like crap!), the cats are still angry at being cuddled but not chased. Crafting and work are both behind.

My 2 things: carbonated water and peppermint tea. Books. Going to bed early. And watching Simpsons reruns cuddled with 2 boys and 2 cats under lots of blankets on the couch.

  5. Dog snuggles are at the top of the list to make me feel better. I also love to drink teas and my choice is the Kleenex Cool Touch Tissues .. OMG .. they are awesome. A close second are the ones with the Vick’s Vapo Rub in them .. awesome when you have a cold :)

  6. Hey Crazy Lady!

I say that with a big smile and nothing but love! Was checking out Fave Crafts and saw the e-book on decoupaging and then…YOUR Modge Podge book and smiled. I love your crazy stuff. Just made your clipboards with the grand kids in PA. They loved them, even my 15 y/o uber cool grandson. About being sick, I got everyone beat. I had WHOOPING COUGH believe it or not and I was soooooo sick, coughing like you wouldn’t believe, to the point of passing out because you just can’t catch your breath! I have never been that sick!! It took 3 months before I felt human again. I’m going to buy your book cuz your a crazy lady, much like myself. And that is a compliment! ;-)
