As most of you know, I love my pugs. They are the snorty, smelly lights of my life. This past year I lost one of them – Nellie – pictured above. She was the best dog in the whole world, as I’m sure many of you feel about your own pets. The best part about Nellie? She was a rescue dog. I’m sorry that she ever had to suffer before I got her (when she was five years old) but I’m very thankful that she was a rescue and ended up with me. Nellie lived the high life after her rescue, and she had a particularly special relationship with my dad. They understood each other.

Did you know that approximately 25% of animals in shelters are pure breeds? A lot of people don’t know that. I love my rescues and prefer to get a pet that way than from a breeder. And as soon as I am ready, I will be adopting another small dog. In the meantime, I’d like to share three pet rescue organizations that need support:

Southeast Pug Rescue and Adoption

There also may be organizations in your area that need your support. I encourage you to visit this link to Petfinder and find them. Shelters can always use money and time . . . or pet adoptions, of course! I know you’ll love your rescue pets just as much as I have loved mine.
Kleenex brand, America’s softest tissue*, knows that once one experiences the softness of Kleenex brand tissues, they will be eager to share it with other cold and flu sufferers, friends and strangers alike, as a way to show they care. This cold and flu season, make the care complete with a Kleenex Brand Care Pack, and together we’ll turn a seemingly- small gesture into something bigger, to make everyone feel better. Visit kleenex.com/softness to learn more.

All 3 of ours are rescues and they have been such a joy. The only way we will probably ever get our pets. They have been the best boys.
Yes yes yes yes yes!
loved this little article…I have two rescue dogs and absolutely love them. Wish more people would consider rescue!
I just used Petfinders to get my Australian cattle dog/Australian shepherd rescue puppy on New Year’s Day from Cuddly Canines. They take in pregnant dogs. I love my new puppy. Luckily she was not born on the street.
Good luck when you are ready for your new love.
Awe I’m sorry for you loss Nellie seems like a special little dog. It’s kinda cool how she took to your dad.
I just got a rescue! I got a dog off craigslist on Sat. I named him Toby. He is a Pomeranian Chi mix and acts like a little old man. But he has very good manners. We are still getting adjusted but he is doing great.
I got my Betta fish from craigslist too! He has been the light of my life for 2 years now
I voluteered at the Hawaii Humane Society. for 2 years. Unwanted animals are still great friends!
Blessings Andrea
