Make a birdie silhouette decoupage plaque

Make a birdie silhouette decoupage plaqueHello, Mod Podge Rocks readers! It’s Linda here, from burlap+blue, and I’m here today to share an easy and versatile tutorial for a decoupage plaque wall hanging that would be perfect in your little one’s nursery or bedroom. It can easily be altered to match any decor, theme or color scheme. Let’s get started!

  • wood plaque (I got mine from Michaels)
  • scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge Gloss
  • ric rac or ribbon
  • craft paint

Step 1: Decide what image you’d like on your finished wall hanging. An animal, an initial, or even a silhouette would look fabulous. Draw your image onto your scrapbook paper. Can’t draw? No problem. Just do a search online for whatever image you are looking for (in my case, “bird silhouette”), and you can copy or trace the image onto your scrapbook paper. It’s kinda hard to see, but here’s my bird drawn onto the paper . . .

DSC_0001-5As you can see, I drew my image onto the back of my scrapbook paper. This way, no pencil marks would show on my finished piece. Cut out your image. Step 2: Next, paint your plaque, if desired. Now, you’re ready to decoupage!
