Making strides against breast cancer.

Do you remember the post I did recently about breast cancer? I was touched by everyone’s comments, and it’s a great reminder that so many people are affected by this disease – people have had cancer themselves or know someone who has. I’d like to let you know more about the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks that are in your area this October. Since Making Strides began 20 years ago, breast cancer death rates have declined more than 32 percent.

This is a picture of my Grandma Bev – I’ll be walking for her. I’ve also known a few friends and co-workers who have had scary experiences with breast cancer, or have had family members pass away. I’ll be walking for them too.

You can visit the website and search for a local walk – there are two in my area. One starts at 9am and lasts two hours, while the other is a 5k that starts at 8am. So you can find an event close to you that most closely fits your fitness level. Just a few hours out of your day is all you need to give to support this worthy cause. Here’s what to expect at a walk. The online tools make it easy to participate and collect donations if you are so inclined. Let’s fight breast cancer together!

Will you join me in a walk this October?

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society’s nationwide series of walking events to raise funds and awareness to end breast cancer.

  1. I have a team made up of survivors and family/friends, as well as head up the food and beverage committee for the Green Bay Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk (@ Lambeau Field on October 13th, registration starts at 7:30am, ceremony starts at 8:30am, walk starts at 9am). I became involved after my own fight against breast cancer. I am honored to be in the presence of so many wonderful people with so much positive energy there! I am happy to be able to give back too :)
