Crafty storage solutions.

Have you ever wanted to see inside my craft room? Well, welcome! It’s not so much a room as it is a desk. With piles of stuff and crafting tools. I’m actually about to move into a new loft (this living situation has always been temporary), and one of the things I’d like to do before I move is get organized. It will make the move easier AND it save space. Because the new loft space is a large studio, which means that things need to be all bundled up in nice, organized packages. Ack – that is so counterintuitive to how I usually operate!

So in addition to the desk, I had a bunch of bags – obviously the desk doesn’t have much storage, so I have to come up with other ways to keep everything organized. I have two tips. Clear plastic bins and tool bags.

The first is clear plastic bins, which I got from Home Depot – two for $6. I was so thrilled at the price that I bought six bins – spending less than $20 on them. I spent a little time weeding through stuff and putting like items together.

If you can believe it, most of the stuff in those bags fit into four bins. I still have two left over. YAY I CAN BUY MORE STUFF! Haha! This is great news for any craft supply hoarder.

Some of the items didn’t go into the bins though. I didn’t want to put paint in and tools in there – so I bought a tool bag and box for items I’d want to store differently or to access a little more often.

The tool bag holds all of my paints nicely (and Mod Podge too!). It also limits me from getting more until I use up what I have.

I *really* love the toolbox because of this lid. I have so many small items. It really helps keep things organized.

And . . . big items can go in the bottom. I have yet to use that cool pennant punch. Don’t worry. It’ll get plenty of use.

All of these bins and bags keep like items together and conserve space – plus I can see everything. I have a big shelf in my laundry room in my new place, so that is where they will go. Craft bag messy storage solutions solved. Booyah! What are your craft storage solutions for small spaces? Do you have any tips?

  1. I like the desk set up. Great containers for your stuff. I like to keep my paper dolls and art and craft stuff in bins and photo boxes. But also have lots of things in fabric bags. Then I periodically go through each one and clean out and organize. Don’t we all need to declutter our things!

Yay for a new loft! And yay for organizating ;)

But I truly LOL’d when I saw ALL of your paint in one bag :D . Just yesterday I split mine in two to take one half to the cabin. (Of course, you realize it’s all your fault ;)
