The latest in decoupage design.

I’ve noticed lately that Pinterest is full of vintage-y designs on DIY projects. I recently shared with you that I am a huge fan of mid-century modern design – so what I think is very funny (about myself) is that I also love vintage inspired sometimes as well. Turns out it is the latest in decoupage design, so I took some photos of cute crafts for you to get inspired by.

What do you think about pattern pieces on the back of plates? I love pattern pieces and Mod Podge together (remember my gift box?). You could use these for a party, but I like them even better on display.

Vintage inspired also includes a lot of florals, vines and some glitter. It’s also acceptable to “put a bird on it.” This canvas, glass jar and tray are very pretty.

Finally, I’m loving these old Vogue candle holders with the damask paper. If you are going for something pretty but a little less frilly, these might be the project for you (great for beginners as well).

I find that even a more modern and simple person like myself can appreciate the “pretty” of vintage crafts. Glitter, pattern pieces and damask are – let’s face it – delightful. So what do you think? Are these crafts up your alley? Are you inspired by vintage design?

  1. As much as I adore contemporary/modern design, there is just something fabulous about midcentury modern and vintage! Love that vintage design + glitter piece.

Snaps for the Portlandia reference – love that sketch!
