Did you know that “trompe l’oeil” comes from a French phrase meaning “to trample cupcakes?” Um – I just made that up, haha! It is French, but refers to deceiving the eye and giving something a faux three dimensional look. These black and white paper pieces give this cupcake stand an almost cartoonish look, but in a fancy way, and I love the contrast on raw wood.
