DIY pirate treasure chest.

I once tried to buy the URL “piratestyle.com” and it was taken. I’m not quite sure what I would have done with it, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. The point is that I like pirate stuff. So does Gina from East Coast Mommy, and she’s here today with a guest post showing you how to make your own treasure chest with a picture of your cute pirates (kids) on the top. Here’s the tutorial.

Hi everyone . . . I am Gina from East Coast Mommy, and I couldn’t be more excited to be guest posting at Mod Podge Rocks! {Don’t you just love the great ideas here?}

Today, I am sharing a project I did with my boys {6, 4, and 2} — a pirate treasure box.

I started off with this plain wooden box from the Dollar Store.

Then I painted the box with brown paint and let dry.

Finally, I printed out a picture of my favorite pirates, and used Mod Podge to attach it to the top of the box. Adhere the picture, let dry for 15 – 20 minutes, then add a top coat.

It’s just that simple! Cute, right? Thank for letting me share my little project with you. I had a lot of fun.

Thanks Gina! This project would make a fabulous box not only for a child’s room, but also as a favor box for a pirate party. It’s so cute (as are her little pirates). Please visit her at East Coast Mommy for more great project ideas.

    Love the pirate treasure chest. Too cute. I did one once with a copy paper box , paint and papier mache. It turned out really cute. I used it as the party favor treasure for my son’s birthday. Papier mache was cute and relatively easy. I bet mod podge would have made it a lot easier. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Wow! Easy and adorable!!! I was thinking it would be very cute as a party favor! Even for a craft at a birthday party for all the guests to do!
