I cracked up when I saw this post about nesting on Two Girls Being Crafty – it basically differentiates between two types of crafters (A and B) via the visual you see above. The projects are hemp “nests” made with Mod Podge that could be used for table displays (just add pretty eggs). I look at the nests above and I want to be a type A crafter . . . but I frequently lean toward type B. So I ask, which one are you? Let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to visit here for more about the nests.

Blogger who loves the color blue and sock monkeys. You can find me in public easily— I'm wearing glasses and lots of stripes.

That is too funny! I often wish I was type A, but I’m a pretty frenetic crafter, which lends itself to type B finished products. I’m not zen enough for A!
Love this post! I love the look of type A but I’m not so good at making it happen. I find type B much more natural and less stressful! Surely craft is not meant to be stressful?! I think I will be happy with my type Bs with the occasional A thrown in if I try really hard
Yours podgingly, Rx
I’m a type a crafter. I’m a wanna be type b, but I can’t stand the mess. So, I keep fidgeting and fidgeting and suddenly it’s all lined up and I’m sad that I couldn’t accept the messy look.
I’m completely type A. I wish I had a bit more type B in there so I could make “messy art” on purpose. But then that “mess” would still be very controlled HAHA!
Though, maybe if I had some more type B in there I wouldn’t be so hard on myself about my efforts.
I am so totally a type A crafter….lol… but can let myself fall into the type B if I want that look…. I love perfection but sometimes I love imperfection too…. Cute post…
DeeDee
Ahahahahahah! I made hemp covered plastic balls. While 4 of them turned out A-like, one was definitely a B no matter what I did. I think the hemp must have gotten magnetized or something.
LOL! This is hilarious! I’m definitely an A type, but some of my projects turn out B type…
AB?
Thank Goodness I’m a type A. My best friend is a type B or maybe a type C. she calls what I do…Arts and Crap!
I lean towards type A, but wish that I was more type B. I like that style better and I would probably be a more productive crafter that way. Less stressful
That’s so funny! My blog is the Type B Crafter, so clearly – I’m a proud Type B
Definitely a TYPE A here. But, in this case, a nest is supposed to be messy. So TYPE B is not messed up enough for me. lol
I am definitely a Type B Crafter. I love the look of things being more organic and natural.
I am definitely a type a, though there are times I wish I could be a b. When I want a messy or scattered look, it never works for me!
Definitely a type A which is probably why I’m not the most profilic producer of crafts. But I always tell myself, quality over quantity….a mantra from my grandma whom I adore! I have occasionaly tried to purposely be type B and I find it so difficult.
Type A is my natural state.
Type B is work for me.
I love both styles, however, for full disclosure: my friends call me The Craft Nazi. More than once their projects have had to spend the night with me so I can fix their efforts…!
Now see, I think the B nest looks more realistic, so although I’m meticulous like A, I’d want mine to turn out like Nest B. So I choose, AB+ as my style.
Hahaha! Cute post…I’m mainly a type A, but it depends on the project, so sometimes a type B.
I’m afraid I’m a type A crafter, but I’m trying to me more of a type B. Everything doesn’t have to be perfectly done and carefully spaced! It’s very hard to change a basic part of yourself, tho.
B b B B bb B! And proud of it. What a great post!!
I am definitely a type B! Why waste time getting one perfect when I could be done with three by now!?
B..and proud of it
Now tell me, really, which one looks more like it was made by a sweet little birdie! Yeppers, B is what it is ;-D
My hubby sure would LOVE it that I be type A in everything. He likes thing all symmetrical, orderly, in rows, etc. Boring I say! I like things in threes or odd numbers and love being carefree, casual, primitive, unhurried. I would purposely do the B nest because the nest in real life created by birds are type B even though it is orderly! I have orderly clutters in my so-called office/ craft room. (Hahahahaha)
Definitely type B wanting to be type A. Somehow my projects never come out like my vision! Helen S
Oh how I wish I was a B. I often find myself not finishing a project because part way threw it’s not round enough, straight enough, even enough, etc. Nest A is nice, but doesn’t nest B look lovely?
I want to be type A, but I seem to be lacking something in execution, especially when I’m trying to craft something from an idea in my head rather than following explicit directions – which kinda defeats the purpose of being creative.
When I first read the comments I saw only- “I wish I was a type A”. I’m glad to see that type B has gotten some positive comments also. There is nothing wrong with it, as someone said “it’s more natural” or “which one looks like a bird made it. To me it looks more artistic. I was more drawn to it than they type A side. Both are beautiful in the eye of the beholder.
By the way I’m usually a type B artist.
Fun post and comments! It was also encouraging because I tend to beat myself up at times for being too “B”! I would like my projects to look more “A” but I am most defintely a B-girl. The truth is I like them both…there’s room for us all!!!
I’m sooo type A! I want everything I make to look perfect (in my twisted mind) and if it isn’t the project usually gets scrapped or gets put away to be taken apart to be used for some “other” project.
If I’m going to sell it, or give it to someone, I am definitely Type-A.
BUT… by nature I am type-B. And sometimes, I am type-B masquerading as Type-A when I take those, umm, less than perfect things and make that part of the ‘feel’ of the project. (“Um, why are the edges of the tray covered in a different kind of paper than the center? I, uh, liked the contrast? No.. no.. it’s NOT because I forgot to make sure I had ENOUGH of the first paper, NOOOOO…”)
I’m Type AB! I’m a perfectionist when it comes to painting and paper crafts. But when it comes to decoupage or cooking…(haha I don’t measure anything) I just kinda do whatever and don’t worry about it!
I think I am definitely Type “A” but I have to admit I always try to be Type “B”. Trying to make it as perfect as imagined..
I’m a type A living in a type B world! I want to be an A but usually end up a B.
Amusing and thoughtful question. I lean towards B, but I also like A. It depends on what I might put in the bowl, and what I’ll then put it next to in my house. I like the idea of a nest-like bowl, and I’d probably be motivated towards using it in a way that suggests a nest. The material itself lends itself towards a more casual treatment. The paper bowls you’ve featured in the past lend themselves more towards the neat and tidy finish. I love the idea that we have choices and don’t have to adhere to hard and fast fashion rules. Whatever floats your boat…or bowl.
unfortunately, I’m totally type b!
I would say I’m a little of both. Some times I strive to be a type A but get type B results.I guess it depends on what I’m doing.I like both of the nests and now I might try that to make some new looking pots for my plants.I was wondering how I might be able to make something nice out of what I have.Even using colored jute. Thanks
i’m a newbie to modpodge and i have slapped it on almost anything that doesn’t move in my house. i’m looking forward to expanding my abilities and open to new ideas. thanks for the video help and i’m headed to the store for a mod podge roller.. thanks again
i am totally a Type A! I have tried my darndest to be a haphazard crafter, like wrapping a wreath in yarn or making a collage, but i just can’t steer away from making everything symmetrical and “perfect”.
I’m a type B crafter who sometimes has bursts of type A surprising her. The past few months I’ve been actually doing things like measuring fabric before cutting it – a huge leap of faith for a B typer.
This totally made me laugh, Amy!!! Ha ha! I think I USED to be a definite Type A, but have, over the past year, become much more of a Type B. I used to stress about lines being straight, getting every bubble or wrinkle out, etc…but not anymore. Now I just roll with it…it’s all “character” or “texture.” LOL I have Melody Ross and Christy Tomlinson to thank for that!
