I love covering things with leftover clothing patterns – remember the gift box I did a few years ago? You can always get fabric patterns like this inexpensively at the thrift store, or you can use any of those leftover from a project you did. Either way, this art is great on a budget and uses up a lot of items in your stash. It was created by my friend Cathie Filian for Plaid, and I can see a wall of different types of art like this. I would also love to receive one as a gift, wouldn’t you? Find the complete instructions here.

Blogger who loves the color blue and sock monkeys. You can find me in public easily— I'm wearing glasses and lots of stripes.

Oh gosh, this is awesome. I have some old patterns that were in a trunk from my Grandmother’s house. I have held onto them since she died in the late 1980s because I didn’t know what to do with them, but now, I think I might dig them out. Thank you for making me think outside the box!
what a great project! can’t wait to make one. xo malia
So cute. Mod Podge does rock. It rocks so much that I have gone through 3 1/2 containers in the last 3 days with my art camp. Yikes. Can you say “peely fingers?”
So cute! I love this!
lovely.
awesome – i was collecting patterns for the awesome pics on the packet but didn’t even think of the actual patterns! Sometimes I wonder if my brain is fully functional! Thanks for sharing!
If someone made ME this, I would be totally happy! Yeah, like that is [not] going to happen. But a girl can dream, can’t she? I’m going to go a diggin’ into my stash and find a pattern to play with. Thanks for the inspiration!
That looks fantastic!
