Artful Jewelry book review

I had an awesome giveaway planned for today, but that fell through like things do sometimes – so I’m having a different awesome giveaway – Artful Jewelry by Jo Packham for Chronicle Books.  I’m very excited about this one because I have a confession.  I’m getting back into jewelry.  For the last several years I’ve been wearing silver hoop earrings and nothing else, and now it’s time to spice things up a bit.

Artful Jewelry is actually a kit paired with a spiral-bound text, and here’s what is super cool about it – the jewelry pieces you are taught to assemble are inspired by famous works of art.  From Boticelli’s La Primavera to Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, you’ll get step-by-step instructions for eleven projects and materials to complete six of them.  Don’t you love being able to start on projects right away?  Artful Jewelry also includes history on the artists and more information about their work.  It doesn’t get much better than that.

I’m giving a copy away today, and I know you are going to enjoy it.  I’ve got a few jewelry pieces in the works (using Dimensional Magic), but I love the embroidery floss necklace pictured on the cover of Artful Jewelry, so I’ll be Mod Pausing to make that little gem.  And yes, I just made up “Mod Pausing.”  It means stopping a Mod Podge projects to do something else.  Anyway, here are the rules for the giveaway.

1. Comment on THIS blog entry. Say anything you would like!
2. Only one entry per person.
3. Contest will close this Wednesday, March 23rd at midnight (EST).
4. PLEASE leave your e-mail address if it’s not attached in Blogger – I need some way to reach you.

    Hi Amy
I’m a newbie around here but from the looks of things I will be hanging around. I, too, think Mod Podge Rocks but I’ve gotta get more practice with it.
Thanks for the giveaway..would be great.

I just started making jewelry so I think this book would be really cool. I’m having a cool giveaway on my blog, well I think it’s cool, for etsy shop Bei Fiori (winner chooses any item in the shop up, up to a $25 value.)
I was hoping more people would enter, but right now there’s not that many entries, and her shop is really cute.
Anyway, sorry for babbling on. Thanks for the cool giveaway Amy.

Hey girlie! I love Mod Pausing – now I have a word to describe my entire life. lol There could be a second definition to that word – one who has Mod Podge constantly stuck on them because they are frequently interrupted while creating. Yep – that’s the definition that fits for me. 😉

Awesome giveaway – you always do such a great job! Thanks a ton – I hope you are well! :)

[email protected] (So you don’t even have to look it up when I win. It’s all about making things easier for you. Bahahaha) xx

This would be awesome for my National art Honor Society kids who make and sell jewelry, etc., from many everyday items. the proceeds go to support a wonderful organization called Arts For Life, which gives art opportunities to children with severe illness and their families.

  38. Tonya says

My national art honor society could benefit from the book as they make jewelry and other items to sell to raise money for a non-profit called arts for life, which provides artistic opportunities for children with serious/terminal illnesses and their families.

My helper quite said she had to much to do so now I have to make them by myself. I will need at least 50 but I don’t want to go with out 75 I am doing 1 and 1/2 a day. So I really want this giveaway. It will get me back into jewelry again.
