I’ve been using Dimensional Magic a lot lately, and I wanted to share a project you could do for dudes. These are cuff links. It’s kind of funny because I didn’t use dude colors (and the glitter?), but I thought you could customize for the man in your life. Who knows? He may like turquoise and irridescent sparkles. I won’t judge him.
Gather These Supplies
Cuff link blanks – most jewelry stores/jewelry sections have these. They are relatively inexpensive
Mod Podge (any formula)
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
FolkArt Extreme Glitter, Hologram
Spray paint, turquoise
Scrapbook paper, one small scrap
Scissors or craft knife and mat
Pen or Pencil
Here are the cuff link blanks before transformation. They look relatively harmless. They also need some color in my humble opinion.
Trace your cuff links onto your sheet of paper and cut out the shapes with your scissors or craft knife. Cut within the lines, that way the shape will fit inside the cuff link. Keep trimming until the fit is exact.
Spray paint the cuff links. This part was fun.
TIP! I didn’t seal the cuff links with clear enamel spray (which I have), but I should have. The spray paint easily chips off of the cuff links and that’s a pain for wear. You should definitely seal these before use.
Paint the inside of the cuff links with Mod Podge and press the papers into them. The end of the brush came in handy. I’m using a wreath for another project to provide some stability. I frequently use other supplies, books, remote controls, dogs or whatever else is around to help me keep my work steady. Allow the paper to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.
Paint Mod Podge over the top of the paper inside the cuff links. Wipe any excess Mod Podge away.
Now sparkle the inside with Extreme Glitter! Oh, this was fun. Give each cuff link a few coats and allow to dry.
Here’s another instance of using what I have for stabilization. Ribbon rolls work great for cuff links! I stuck the cuff link into my ribbon roll and spread the Dimensional Magic into it. Keep adding Dimensional Magic, but not too much. You don’t want it to come over the top.
Here are both cuff links. Note they are foggy, but the Dimensional Magic will dry clear. Allow to dry overnight.
When the Dimensional Magic dries, you will notice it has sunk into the cuff link a little. Add another layer of Dimensional Magic, filling up the cuff link and allowing the DM to dome over the top. Allow to dry overnight again. When you get out of bed the next morning, you’ll find perfect sparkle-y cuff links fit for . . . a court jester!
Okay, so mine are a little bright and glittery, but yours can be customized to the style of your recipient. These are so easy, and it’s nice to find easy gifts that men will actually use. If you think your man will wear these, then I will send them to you . . . but no hate mail from angry husbands allowed!

Blogger who loves the color blue and sock monkeys. You can find me in public easily— I'm wearing glasses and lots of stripes.

Very cute! Thanks for the tute.
Wow!!!
What a brilliant use for ribbon spools-I always save mine. Now I have something to do with them.
Where can you buy it? I checked the Modge Podge row in Michael’s and they didn’t have it
cool! my hubby wouldn’t go for glitter though… too funny!
These are really fun. How hard is the Dimensional Magic once it dries? Have you noticed any problems with finger prints or dents in the surface? Thanks!
Hey Christine! The Dimensional Magic feels as hard as epoxy to me. The only issue is that you have to let it completely dry before handling it. If you let it dry, you won’t get any fingerprints or dents. I would recommend about 72 hours before handling to be completely, totally sure it’s dry!
PS – Don’t let it dry in extreme environments, like a really cold or hot room. It will cause cracking while drying.
Like Condo Blues, I cannot find Mod Podge DM anywhere where I live! Not Michael’s, not Hobby Lobby, not Joanne’s, not Ace Hardware (a place that comes up when I enter my zip code at the Mod Podge site). I guess I will have to order it online.

Where do you purchase the cufflinks?
If only I could FIND the Dimensional Magic. Searched two Hobby Lobby’s and a Michael’s near my home and no luck so far!
Hey everyone! The product is at Hobby Lobby and JoAnns, but like Diana in Sioux Falls found, some specific stores might not have it. Your best bet is to order online, and this is the best price I’ve found:

I promise the bottle goes a long way!
Renee – You can get cuff links at most craft stores, but there are also a few online options for you:

Looks like great fun !
I love this stuff and I haven’t even tried it yet! Just waiting to see it in my local craft store…
Amy, thanks for posting about Dimensional Magic. I really like it. As you say it dries quite hard and I have found it to be an excellent alternative to resin.
This stuff is so, so amazing. I love the cuff links! Off to spread the word…
Love your resourcefulness (is that a word?) in finding things to hold the rings! Thanks for linking up to the Mad Skills party!
Those came out fantastic. I am still learning how to use modge podge, but it is a wonderful thing.

Thanks for the response! I have some Dimensional Magic in hand and can’t wait to play with it. So happy to hear it dries hard–this has been an issue with other products I’ve tried.
Love your blog–thanks so much for all your hard work and creative ideas.
I have someone who would ware them it they are still avaliable. I love the way they turned out.
For those who are trying to find DM in stores. Look in the clay aisle, not the adhesive aisle. In Hobby Lobby stores they are with the clay jewelry making supplies.
